Hello all,
Yes, that is correct, this "athlete" you see on the left is running/walking/waddling/crawling this year's London Marathon and I need your money.
Please stop laughing - no honestly, stop laughing...it is happening. The problem is the London Marathon and I used to have this sort of understanding. Having done it twice before in 1998 and 2000 when I was slim-ish and fit-ish - alright when I was younger - I vowed I would one day try again.
I entered five years in a row through the ballot system and didn't get a place but apparently, five years of consecutive knock-backs means automatic entry so here we are.
The pic on the left is after I'd just completed a three-mile "gentle training run" and as you can see it barely touched me. Anyway, the aim is not to win it - and I think my medal hopes have gone now - so it's all about the dosh.
I'm running for Patrick's Fund, which was set up in memory of little Patrick Keogh. The fund will pay for a pioneering nationwide training scheme for health professionals, in association with the Baby Lifeline charity.
So you not only get the chance to laugh at the thought of me stumbling around London but you also raise funds for an incredibly worthy cause. Here's the link to Baby Lifeline and Patrick's Fund is on the left-hand side.

I've left it all spectacularly late of course but that's par for the course. There's nothing like blind panic to focus your mind and it's well worth it.
Please give generously and remember any sponsorship is massively appreciated no matter how much - or little.
Cheers, Owen
