We offer expert care, guidance and support to people living with a terminal illness

Story

In August After 2 months of seizures I was diagnosed with 2 brain tumours and difficult to operate on due to their location and size. Since then me and my family’s lives have been turned upside down as i required constant supervision 24/7 but we have been fully supported by the care, support and help of the Marie Curie nurses in our own home.

By Aberdeen hospital ARI we were told nothing could be done with a " low grade glioma” and the only steps for me were a MRI every 6 months to monitor the development of the 2 tumours, and to try and contain the seizures with medication so that I could get back to work and keep the bills getting paid. The NHS call this Watch and Wait!

But Medication could no longer stop or contain the seizures, which were continuing very frequently, usually on a daily basis, so now surgery has had to be considered as there is no other option. I had 2 tumours, the smaller Tumour could not be operated on first due to its location, the operation would have to go through the motor cortex strip which might damage my left side. So Surgery has to be done on Tumour 2  to try and de-bulk it and hopefully take 50% -70% of it to take the seizures away but once again still keep clear of the motor strip. I have had a specialised MRI to locate and map the motor strip for future surgery, also 4-5 day video telemetry of the brain to hopefully find the main trigger points that are causing the seizures. After that I have to wait for the major surgery which is done by first grid neurosurgery to try and remove the trigger points in the brain that are causing the seizures, and after then other surgeons will try and de-bulk some of the main tumour2

We have been in close contact with and the specialised surgeon teams ,choose the correct hospital in Edinburgh for the operations, and keep using the medication to minimisewhile the seizures. The operation will be around 1st week in January 2015.

I would really thank everybody who has made the time and effort to visit my page and make donations raise the amount of £4800.00 amazing

so I would like to raise some money towards the Marie Curie charity through the simple gesture of growing a moustache for a month. hopefully my family, friends, workmates and others will help me raise £$£ no matter how little as it all adds up in the end.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
