Personal message:

Oxfam has launched a Bangladesh Cyclone appeal, calling on the British public to donate £2 million to help in a region in which up to three million people are affected in the cyclone-stricken area.

The scale of this disaster is enormous:

- Hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshi are returning to their homes to find complete ruin;

- An estimated 273,000 homes have been lost;

- 75 percent of crops are damaged in the worst-hit regions;

- There are increasing water and sanitation concerns.

Oxfam is working to provide immediate relief to over 80,000 people - essential sanitation, food and water, shelter, well and latrine cleaning, and debris clearing. As the situation develops Oxfam will be working with our partners long-term to help people get back on their feet.

The British public are incredibly generous and we urgently need your support to help us save and rebuild people’s lives.

For more information, please visit www.oxfam.org.uk/cyclone.

What your donation could buy

- £35 will provide hygiene kits for two families that contain soap, towels, washing bowls, sanitary pads and other essential items;
- £50 will provide 20 buckets to store clean safe water;
- £100 will provide hygiene kits for six families.

Oxfam belongs to the Disasters Emergency Committee and will receive a share of their Cyclone Appeal funds. If you prefer to donate to the DEC, please click on the link below.
