Story
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children, yet research is chronically underfunded!
In August 2014, the happiest and most cheerful little boy lost his life a year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. Skye was only 5 years old at the time, but his outlook on life was one that was well beyond his years. His last words before he passed away were "make the most of what you have got".
Since then his family, led by the strongest people I know, Andy and Sally, have set up and been at the forefront of leading research and initiatives to help battle brain tumours in children through their charity 'Blue Skye Thinking'.
After successfully completing 'To Skye for Skye' 3 years ago, which involved setting off from Oxford: cycling (across the west highland way and 600 miles of road biking), walking/jogging (up Ben Nevis/Sgurr Alisdair) and paddling (lake Windermere) from Oxford to the Isle of Skye over a 12-day epic adventure, we are now embarking on a slightly different adventure this summer.
At the beginning of July, we will run from the source of the Thames, to Lechlade (19 miles), where we will then move onto a paddle-board. We will then paddle the Thames and aim to arrive in Henley for the end of the Regatta on Sunday! . This is a grand total of 19 miles running and 123 miles paddle-boarding.
