Story
Sophie was diagnosed with the life-limiting condition Hurler syndrome in April 2003, when she was 10 months old. The only treatment for this condition is a bone marrow transplant. We were lucky enough to find a donor match and in September 2003 Sophie had a bone marrow transplant at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. Sophie had a difficult time following her transplant and it is primarily down to the incredible medical care that she received at Great Ormond Street Hospital that she finally came home in January 2004 after 5 months in hospital. The transplant was a complete success and although she has lots of other medical issues to deal with, the progression of her condition has been halted and she is no longer terminally ill.
On September 28th we will be taking part in a 10 mile sponsored walk to raise funds for the unit. So please sponsor us now!
