We’re Trekking the Indian Himalayas for Hospiscare – In Memory of Jeanette Parkin

We’ve set ourselves a big challenge: to complete 40 fundraising events before we turn 40, all in support of Hospiscare. One of our next challenges is taking part in the 100 Miles in May (Julie Conway Memorial Challenge) – where my daughter and I will be completing 100 miles of activity across the month. That could be walking, running, cycling or anything that keeps us moving! 💜

All of this is building towards our biggest challenge of all…

On 31 October 2026, we’ll be setting off on an unforgettable Indian Himalayas Trek in aid of Hospiscare. This journey is about more than just adventure – it’s about making a difference, honouring a loved one, and pushing ourselves for a cause close to our hearts.

The trek follows an ancient trail from the home of the Dalai Lama, through stunning mountain landscapes, alpine meadows and along the Kareri Stream. We’ll also spend two days volunteering on a community project in Delhi, before finishing with a visit to the iconic Taj Mahal.

This will be a real physical challenge – trekking for up to 8 hours a day at altitude – but it’s nothing compared to what so many people face with a terminal diagnosis. If we can help make things a little easier for others, then every step will be worth it.

We’re doing this in memory of Jeanette Parkin, who received incredible care at Searle House in her final days. Hospiscare supports patients and families across Exeter, Mid and East Devon, and the care they provide is truly invaluable.

We’re also covering the majority of the costs of the trek ourselves, so every donation goes directly to supporting Hospiscare’s vital work.
