We're Trekking the Indian Himalayas for Hospiscare – In Memory of Jeanette Parkin
On 31 October 2026, we’ll be setting off on an unforgettable Indian Himalayas Trek in aid of Hospiscare. This journey is about more than just adventure – it's about making a difference, honoring a loved one, and pushing ourselves to new limits for a cause close to our hearts.
The route follows an ancient trail from the home of the Dalai Lama, passing panoramic mountain landscapes along the Karei Stream, through alpine meadows. We’ll then take the overnight sleeper train before visiting one of the wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal. We're looking forward to experiencing the rich culture and traditions of the region – and especially to spending two days volunteering with a local community project in Delhi!
The trek we're taking on will be a real challenge; We'll be trekking for up to 8 hours a day! But it's nothing compared to the challenge of a terminal diagnosis that so many face each year. If we can help make things a little easier for those facing one of life’s most difficult journeys, that’s what we're going to do!
We’re doing this in memory of Matt’s mum, Jeanette Parkin, who received amazing care at Searle House in her final days. Hospiscare provides specialist support for terminally ill patients and their families across Exeter, Mid, and East Devon. The care they give is invaluable, and we want to help ensure more families get the support they need during life’s toughest moments.
This trek is just one part of a bigger challenge. I’ve set myself a goal of trying to complete 40 fundraising challenges over the next year before we turn 40 in support of Hospiscare – and I’m dragging Matt along for the ride! We’d love your support – whether it’s a donation, a share, or a few words of encouragement!
Every step we take is for those facing one of life’s hardest journeys. Let’s make a difference together.
❤️ Thank you for your support! ❤️
