This summer we will be challenging ourselves to trek 26 scenic miles along the Yorkshire coast, not because we are overly ambitious or enjoy a hiking sweet (or 6) but to raise vital funds and awareness for Alzeihmers Society.

As optometrists we often see the impact of dementia on our patients and their families. We also play a vital part in helping maintain vision which can positively reduce the impact of dementia (https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/about-dementia/managing-the-risk-of-dementia/reduce-your-risk-of-dementia/vision-loss-and-risk).

However more recently Nina has felt the impact directly whilst providing support to her dad Bill.

One in three of us born in the UK today will develop dementia in our lifetimes. Alzheimer’s Society vows to help end the devastation caused by dementia, but they need our help. We have set ourselves the challenge of raising £1,000 before the event in July.
