Story
Walking in the footsteps of those who fought in the OPERATION OVERLORD, DDAY - Normandy Landings of World War Two, whilst supporting the soldiers and veterans of today.
On the morning of 6 June 2024 at 0820hrs, I will be setting off from the shoreline at Lion Sur Mer, Sword Beach, and following the same route that No.3 Commando would have taken 80 years ago, towards Bénouville Bridge, which was a key objective of the British 6th Airborne Division, and finished at Café Gondrée.
Each member of the team will carry weight, which will stimulate the extra ammunition for the Brens, Mortars, Vickers K Guns and PIATs, which is equal to what the Commandos would have carried on 6 June 1944 - DDAY. Plus, all team members will be wearing the same battledress that the Commandos worn in WW2.
