June 2011

Hi again

Thanks very much to all those who have sponsored the charity (Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research) I’m riding for!

The London Bikeathon is only 2 days away.  Months of training is over, I’ve nearly raised my target of £1000, I’ve lost ¾ of a stone, I’ve freed up one seat on the jubilee line, have rock hard bum bones and get to use Rabo’s power showers.

I don’t read the metro anymore, and don’t play Angrybirds.  I gave way to Lord Sugar’s Bentley on Marlyebone Rd and also got pushed by a pedestrian who wasn’t happy with me blocking part of his crossing.  I wouldn’t go back to my tube journey any time soon.

If you’ve been meaning to sponsor my effort, the details are below, in order of ease.

SMS: SMS AFQT54 £20 to 70070 to donate £20.  Amount can be changed of course

CASH: Ancient paper sponsor forms are at my desk C12 or at my home.

WEB: www.justgiving.com/paresh-madhaparia then click Donate now

WIRE: Email me for bank details

CHEQUE: Don’t even go there

WESTERN UNION: Lagos South East Branch

Remember to Gift-Aid it.

April 2011

I didn't think i'd do this, but i'm taking on 52 miles of pot-holes and roadkill with my nice new shiny bike and my crew.  We will be riding for fitness and to help fund research for blood cancer cures (http://www.beatbloodcancers.org/research).  Fortunately, i don't personally know anyone who has suffered.  Probably because of the great work they do.

I've never done anything like this before and it's a good time to start because i've been piling on the tonnes since my boy was born, i began a less active job and I ate a load of greasy indian food when India won the ICC World Cup 2011.

We've been training for over a month now and i'm feeling the massive benefits and thighs. In the first week, i was able to ride 10 metres unaided without falling down.  Now I can eat up everything in my path like the Red car when it was racing the Blue car in the Milky Way Ad.

If you see a bloke in a bright dutch orange cycling top in the North West London area, followed by 3 dashing cyclists far behind me.. it's probably me, so say Hi.  When you get home, log back on to this page and spare a thought and then some cash.  I have set a rather ambitious target of £1000 (That's only 65p per facebook 'friend')

My company will match every donation made to me upto £750.  This should be all the incentive you need. I’m fortunate, my bank is a friendly bank and has a strong Corporate Social responsibility agenda.

Cycling is very safe and enjoyable as long as you have at least 3 brain cells. I thought it was dangerous and hadn't cycled for the last 10 years because of it, but i've realised how considerate 99% of drivers are.  The one percent who aren't so considerate, drive kitted up BMW's and are easy to spot from the crowd.

Finally, i'd like to thank you in advance for your donations to make the world a little bit better and no worse.  Everyone else risks being 'unfriended' so be warned.

If you want to donate in physical cash(still the easiest way despite the latest advances in technology), I have old school paper sponsorship forms to bring around to you and then I will submit your donation to my donation page to prove I haven’t pocketed it to buy the latest gadget from Apple.

Have a great day!
