I am married to Emma and live in Essex with our two Bedlington Terriers, Abby and Crossley. I started cycling at the end of 2006 after feeling lazy watching pro-cyclists ride up mountains whilst I could not even cycle down the road for a paper! So I bought a bike and received a big shock trying to do just 2 miles! I struggled on and managed to complete two charity rides in 2007 for Orchid Cancer and the British Heart Foundation (40 miles and 60 miles). So I thought what could I do next  I know, London to Paris!!! My London to Paris ride takes place from 3 to 7 June 2009 . I did consider asking Abby  and Crossley  to do it with me but Abby was worried she would not like the food and Crossley was worried he might like the French Poodles too much and risk having to jump out of the window of a farmhouse in the middle of the night being chased by a French farmer with a shotgun!! I was also concerned that if Crossley drank an energy drink he might cycle faster than me and it would be humiliating having to wear a T-shirt that said "I rode from London to Paris.....but not as quick as my dog!"  The ride is 465km over 4 days with a 20 week training programme!!! This will mean that Emma will be re-directing cakes and biscuits to Abby and Crossley during this period who have kindly offered their help! Hmmmm!!!  I will be riding for Dogs Trust who do a fantastic job caring for stray and abandoned dogs even including a Bedlington Terrier who was rehomed at the start of 2008.
