I ran the Royal Parks half marathon in 1:28:08 finishing 166th from 10,000.

Suffered some pain but nothing compared to that of some of the young people that EM Power helps.

EMpower was established in 2000 by a core group of professionals in the emerging markets (EM) financial community to provide grants to community-based non-governmental organisations working to improve the lives and expand the opportunities of at-risk young people in EM countries. EMpower also serves as a bridge between these communities and the EM private sector, to create sharing of resources as well as experience between those who might otherwise not ever have contact.

EMpower seeks to fund partners that demonstrate effectiveness, transparency, efficiency, interest in learning and evaluation, solution-oriented thinking, and respect for and integration of the knowledge and perspectives of others. With the desire to aid and learn from these grassroots innovators, EMpower galvanizes the collective resources of the financial community—from Wall Street to Sao Paulo to London--in a working example of cross-sector collaboration with programmes in EM countries.

Youth aged 10-24 represent 1/6 of the world’s population, with a substantial majority in EM countries.  EMpower funds more than 60 organisations worldwide implementing local solutions to ensure that youth born into poverty in EM countries have the critical cornerstones for their future: health, education, livelihoods and leadership opportunities.
