Story
In October 2013 I was rushed into hospital suffering from severe stomach pain. I spent 3 weeks in hospital before undergoing an operation that left me with a colostomy. In that time my family were beside themselves with worry, my wife was desperate for information to help me and understand what was happening. One night at 10.00 p.m. whilst trawling the internet my wife came across the CA, she rang and spoke to the most lovely lady imaginable. My wife was in tears and the help she received made such a huge difference not only to her but to me as she was able to reassure me about the implications of having the operation and provide much needed support.
Since my operation I have contacted the CA a number of times about various matters and again the help and support provided has been just fantastic.
My cycle ride will cover between 160-180 miles through the Scottish Highlands via some beautiful scenery from Oban, via Fort William, Loch Ness and finishing at Dundonnell on the shores of Little Loch Broom.
The day after my ride I will celebrate my 50th birthday, a little weary from the journey I'm sure but very happy in the knowledge that I have done something worthwhile that will help others.
In my day job I work for pet charity Blue Cross and visit schools to encourage children to be responsible pet owners so I fully appreciate the need for charitable organisations to constantly receive support. The CA is such a wonderful charity and myself and my family will be forever grateful for the kindness they provided.
Thank you for reading and of course a very big thank you for your kind donation.
