Story

So 10 Marathons in 10 consecutive days.........what have I let myself into??

It is going to be tough and without a doubt my biggest challenge todate.

Pls pls find it in your Heart to donate to the Brathay Charity as they do an excellent job with under privileged youngsters who need some support in their life.

Here is my story.....

I started running races back in 1991 at the age of 19 and ran several Half Marathons. In 1993 I ran my first Marathon at the age of 21, which was in St Albans in Herts. In the following year in the April of 1994 I ran my 1st of 10 London Marathons and from this point got the running bug.

After running 4 Marathons I decided to tackle my first Ultra Marathon and in 1995 I flew out to South Africa to run in the Comrades 90km which was a fantastic adventure and a tough challenge over a hilly course and completed in 8 hrs 56 mins.

I continued running Marathons at a rate of 6 or 7 a year and this took me all over the world and allowed me to complete in the following races, USA (New York & Chicago Marathons), Italy (Turin Marathon), Greece (Athens Marathon),  France (Paris & Reims Marathon), Spain (Barcelona Marathon),  Holland (Amsterdam), Lanzarote (Lanzarote Marathon) & lots of other great city races.

I picked up a knee injury in 1999, which took me out for a year and as a result I then took up a new hobby of Mountain climbing, which took me to some fantastic places such as Kiliminjaro & Matterhorn. I slowly got back to running in 2000 but struggled to get back to running Marathons but over the years have now slowly ground out a total of 60+ full Marathons.

In October 2012 I ran the Royal Parks 50km Ultra and this September 2013; I am running the LadyBower 50 Ultra Marathon.

In May 2014 I will be one of 14 runners attempting to run 10 Marathons in 10 consecutive days around Lake Windermere one of the toughest Marathon courses in the U.K. It will be 262 miles of highs and lows although I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to raise monies for the Brathay Trust.

This event will truly be my toughest challenge todate and with your support not only will I successfully complete the 10 Marathons but will raise lots of much needed money for a very worthwhile cause.

The Brathay Trust work alongside disadvantaged young people and work with them to mentor and support them on their self confidence, basic life values & help them to set Life Goals.

Many thanks

Paul
