Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September 2019 I will be flying to Nepal to trek to Everest Base Camp. I will hiking for 13 days, camping for 12 nights, to achieve the ultimate goal of reaching EBC at 5,735 m / 17,575 feet. This trek is, according to Charity Challenge, "Not for the faint of heart" so will certainly be a challenge.
I am doing this in aide of Myeloma UK, who as a charity offer patient care and support, as well as critical involvement in researching a cure. Myeloma is a cancer arising from plasma cells, a type of blood cell which is made in the bone marrow, regardless of how early this cancer is found, there is currently no cure for it.
As a lot of people know, my Mum was diagnosed with this in February 2009, she battled this awful cancer along with end stage kidney failure & heart failure, as well as a broken back in multiple places. She never asked "why me", she never complained & she never stopped smiling. Throughout this time, it was a huge roller-coaster for both Mum & the family, one with very high highs, but extremely low lows. Mum sadly lost her 7 year battle with this cancer in February 2016. She fought with bravery & huge strength, for this reason, I would still like to raise money for her cancer charity so that this fantastic charity can carry on helping people like my Mum.
