Phew! Made it, but boy was it tough...hot and hilly (those bridges!) and the long incline on to the finish went on for miles.
My New York time of 4:43:08 may be a tad disappointing compared with London in 2002 (4:23:29) and 2004 (3:59:49) but who cares? It was huge fun and we raised a few pounds for Barnardo's, whilst I shed a few myself!
Indeed, it was an extraordinary day - a brilliant atmosphere from start to finish. The spectators in Central Park, including my darling wife Kristin, were particularly amazing during those agonising last few miles - their enthusiastic and passionate encouragement helped offset painfully aching limbs and a weary body!
The generosity of my sponsors was also hugely motivating for which I am very grateful - thank you.
Forgive me asking, but if you have not yet sponsored me, it is not too late... please either use this link or alternatively send me a cheque, made payable to "Barnardo's"
Kristin wants me to enter the New York Marathon in 2005, but I suspect that it has more to do with the fact she never made it to Bloomingdales this time.
Oh, and if you want to see how elated and relieved I felt just after the race, have a look at the link below...

Thanks, friends, including those tolerant souls whose company I turned down for a golf tour the weekend before New York...
