Being a die-hard scuba diver I am not one to miss an opportunity to get in the water, so I have decided to take the plunge and will be taking part in a sponsored shark dive at the Blue Planet Aquarium, Ellesmere Port on 20th September.

This all came about following a conversation with a dive buddy, who is also taking part in the event.  He has a relative with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and is not expected to live past his early 20s due to this incurable genetic condition.

So having found out a little more about MD, I decided in my wisdom that it would be a good idea to take part too.

The dive will include swimming with Sand Tiger sharks, Lemon sharks, Nurse sharks, Wobbegongs (Carpet sharks), Bamboo sharks and Southern Stingrays.  The biggest is a 3 metre long, 150kg Sand Tiger!!!
