Story
Well I'm down to the last 3 days before I head off to Peru and the adventure of a life time. Preparation is everythng to my bag is packed already but I am not able to pack everything so back to the start. Its with a very very big thank you to you all for being so generous with your donations. An update on my progress will be shared with you upon my return. Thanks once again!!!
Just updating you all on my training progress since you last read the below. I had a 55 mile training session planned in Wiltshire and after the first 10 miles I crashed and burned. This resulted in being airlifted to hospital and having an 8 inch metal plate screwed into my collar bone so as my ligaments could reattach themselves.
As such I was resigned to using the exercise bike in the gym and my limit was 1 hour per day, boring!!!! This then progressed to some cross training and now I am back battling the London buses and motorbikes getting to work.
I have completed a couple of 35 mile rides which again were on road, got back into my running and am feeling fit. My only handicap is the pain but a small price to pay for being able to raise the amount of money I have managed to raise so far.
Thanks for all your support and I will let you know how the trip progresses, hopefully without any more hitches. How I am going to cope with the altitude nobody knows. The snakes in the jungle..... well thats easy, cycle faster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I hate snakes).
We all do something silly when we reach a certain mile stone in our lives. This year will be no different for me. Given the crazy adventures I have already taken part in I have now found an adventure that will either make or break me. In a desperate attempt to hold on to my youth, I have decided to cycle from the Peruvian Andes to the Amazon jungle as a way to take my mind off the fact that I will be turning 40!!!
Whilst testing myself to the limit on this 11 day adventure, I will be looking to raise as much money as possible for Help the Hospices, a charity that I feel passionate about. The charity undertakes some fantastic work and I know that with your help the money will be greatly welcomed and will make a difference.
A huge thank you for your support!!
