Story

On the morning of 2 August 2009 I shall be queuing up with a couple of thousand other nutters from all over the world preparing myself to jump into the cold water of a Bolton reservoir ready to swim 3800m. This is the start of a race called Ironman UK.

On completion of the swim we shall be jumping on our bikes, yes still dripping wet, and cycling 112 miles around the Lancashire countryside.

Even that is not enough to satisfy our insane idea of a race because we shall then jump straight off our bikes, swap bike shoes for running shoes and run a marathon (yes the full 26 miles) finishing in Bolton town centre.

This will all be completed in times ranging from around 8.5 hours to the cut off time of 17 hours. I hope to finish in around 11 to 12 hours.

I have completed an Ironman in the past (2006) but this time I am going to compete on behalf of charity, The Pelican Cancer Foundation to be precise.
I have joined a team of 20 like minded athletes (Team Oxygenaddict) in the aim of raising a total of £20,000. Therefore any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated and will help towards saving lives.

Thanks
Paul
