I started swimming again recently, the first time for a couple of years as I've been suffering a frozen shoulder, a capsulated shoulder joint which is more than likely Diabetes related. I've lived happily with Diabetes for over 25 years now, however the condition brings with it a lot of challenges, limitations and issues that need constant focus. Throughout those 25 years the NHS and Diabetes UK have transformed the way the condition is controlled, so much so that I lead a relatively free and healthy life far removed from the struggle my father had when he was diagnosed in the 70's.
Diabetes UK are currently running the Swim22 challenge, so it seems only right that I make the commitment on behalf of Diabetes UK to help them with their wonderful work.
I need to complete the 35,400m (approx 22 miles from coast to coast) by 22nd May which equates to around 3,250m a week. I'll post updates as I go, any donations however large or small would be brilliant.
