Samaritans is a confidential emotional support service for anyone in the and . The service is available 365 days a year 24 hours a day (24/7) for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide. In , the Samaritans have to raise £40,000 each year to pay for the telephone lines alone in order to provide this valuable service.

We are a team of friends, family and colleagues who are undertaking 2 challenges in July 2010 in order to raise money for our chosen charity. On Sunday 4^th July, 10 of us will be taking part in the Leeds Corporate Challenge 10km Run. This is a large event organised by Jane Tomlinson’s widow, Mike, in memory of his late wife with the aim of raising money for as many local charities as possible. A couple of weeks later, on Saturday 24^th July (24/7), we are donning our hiking boots, grabbing our trekking poles and walking ’s 3 Peaks, aiming to complete the course in under 12 hours.
