We’re Age UK and we’re here to make sure every older person feels included and valued. Whether it’s providing free information and advice, tackling loneliness and isolation or campaigning for older people’s rights – we’ll be there. Your support makes it possible.

Story

If it was just down to me, I'd be asking for sponsorship simply because I'm going to have to spend 3 days in the constant company of 21 sweaty, lycra clad blokes I've never met. Apparently, though, people need to do more than that these days to raise money for charity, so perhaps you'll spare a few bob if this novice pedaller threw some cycling in as well.

To make it from Big Ben in London to the Eiffel Tower in Paris I’ll need to cover a little under 500km on 3 consecutive days. As a rough estimate I’ll be burning up about 16,000 calories – that’s the equivalent of around 125 two egg omelettes...

I’m doing the London 2 Paris cycle for two fantastic charities – Help the Aged (soon to be called Age UK) and Action on Addiction. You can find the Action on Addiction page here, and the Help the Aged page here.
You can also laugh at my suffering and keep up to date with progress on my L2P blog here.

Help the Aged works tirelessly to help protect older people from isolation, neglect and poverty – everything from campaigning internationally to providing a bit of company and basic help to people who might well live next door to you.

One in three people suffer from an addiction. Sadly, the odds are that someone very close to you will, at some stage, be directly affected. But like any other disease they can be treatable. Action on Addiction provides invaluable support and treatment that helps addicts and their loved ones cope with the confusion, uncertainty and exhaustion that is part of living with a drug, alcohol or other addiction problem.

Please help keep me motivated, and help these two remarkable challenges by donating. It’s really easy and will only take a few minutes. Even a small contribution would be hugely appreciated.
