Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It has been a lifelong dream and ambition of mine to pursue a career in stage acting and this year, I have been fortunate enough to be one of just 28 students, selected from 3200 applicants, who have been offered a place on the Three Year BA Acting degree course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.

I have been involved in theatre in and around Glasgow for over 12 years in roles such as: Tony in West Side Story; Angel in Rent; Curly in Oklahoma and Sickboy in the Edinburgh Fringe-bound Trainspotting.

Unfortunately, having completed my first degree in Film Studies and Music at Glasgow University, I am now ineligible to apply for support for fees but can apply for the means tested loan support available through SAAS. Thus will, however, provide insufficient funding to cover all my costs for this course and I have therefore to raise an additional £11,000 per year in order to cover the student mandatory fee contribution, which is set at £3290, and to cover  the balance of my term living costs, which are anticipated by RADA as being a minimum of £11,000 per year. The course at RADA runs for 36 weeks, unlike the normal 30 week academic year elsewhere, and when allied to a minimum 36 hour class contact time per week – excluding any personal study or rehearsal time – the opportunity to secure any regular part time work during term time, without detriment to the training, is limited.

I will continue to pursue other possible sponsorship avenues, however, any donation you can offer, no matter how big or small, will make a massive difference and it will put me one step closer to realising my dreams.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe, and they’ll send your money directly to my RADA account. Any sponsors will be written to officially from RADA informing you of any upcoming events at the Academy and also with regular updates of my progress. Also, any sponsor donating more than £500 will be invited to attend student productions each term and will receive credit in all relevant RADA publications.

Furthermore, I have signed up for the Glasgow Half Marathon on Sunday 5th of September in order to try raise a little more funds! ANY sponsorship would be a massive help!

Thanks for all your support.
