On Sunday 25th April 2010, I will be running the London Marathon which as you may know is 26 miles... and in my opinion 26 miles too long!  Apparently to some critics out there (otherwise known as friends), the 6 mile run I did in April 2009 wasn't an acceptable challenge to merit their sponsorship.  This venture, however, being over 4 times the distance and of course including the dreaded "wall" I'm hoping will be seen as worthy.  To be honest, I'm bricking it, as even in my 5yearsago-11stone-superfit era I couldn't walk for 2 days after running a distance half that, now I'm a overthehill-13.5stone-alwaysinjured.  Basically, there's work to be done....

So why am I doing it?

Well, the charity I'm supporting is Christian Aid.  They commit themselves to tackling the causes and consequences of poverty and injustice, regardless of religion and race.  I don't think its right that your quality of life should depend on where you are born.  We’ve been brought up in a privileged area of the world I want to recognise that and fight for those who haven't had the same opportunities as me.  When you really think about it... it’s simply not right!

So please sponsor me, don’t do it for me, I’m not interested in looking good because I’ve raised a lot, I just want to help others and inspire those around me to do the same.  Just a few quid can actually save lives... I don’t know about you but death is kinda on the bottom of my to do list right now.... and I’m sure people would appreciate it if you helped move it to the bottom of theirs.
