I am one of thoes mad road runners although of the over 70 variety, I am sure you have seem them out and about in the area where you live.

I am going to the Darjeeling Region and the Himalayas on the border of India and Napal to run in the 20th Himalaya 100 Mile Challenge, incl. the 17th Everest Challenge, this is an organised event and attracts runners and walkers from around the world.

The 5 Races are held over 5 Consecutive Days and vary in distances covered, we also run at varying altitudes from 6000ft. up to 11,800ft., the Challenge starts on 25th October to 29th October 2010, and we will be flying out a few days before to become accustomed to the altitude and flying home a few days later after time to relax and chill out.

I will be runnering for my Local Club Tone Zone Runners and seeking sponsorship/donations for a

Hi everyone,

Thought I would give an update on how my training is progressing. Since the end of February I have been getting out running for 5 and sometimes 6 consecative days, at varying distances and differant terrains road and cross country, incl.hill work in Arundel Park and on the South Downs at Whiteways Bury.

The current mileage covered is between 50 plus and 60 plus, although I have twice managed 70 and 72 miles in a 6 day period.

I ran a 21 mile race at end of March in 3.35.51, which I was pleased with.

I have a couple of hilly half marathons planned, one in May and one in June and a 10.5 Mile Mountain Race in North Wales which incl. a 3000ft climb at the end of May, plus a undulating 15 mile cross country race in July.

So overall I am pleased on how the training is going but will need to start increasing the mileage over the comming weeks and months.

Sponsorship and donations have started to come in so that is great for Chestnut Tree House, so a thank you to all who have donated to date.

Finally a big thank you to my running partner Ray who has been keeping me in check on some of our outings.

Hi there folks,

I thought I would give you another update on what I have been upto.

Ran the Chester Half Marathon on Sun.16th May in 1.55.04,finished in 1137th out of 2146 runners, 2nd MV/70

out of 10, 0/70 runners, my best time again for some years,so hopefully the training is paying off.

Ran a 10.5 mile Mountain race in North Wales on Sat.29th May which incl. a climb of 3000ft to the summit,

weather was very rough with rain a cold wind and mist on the mountain with visability down to around 20ft.

We had to carry weather protection clothing etc in a backpack or bumbag,it was an experiance to say the least

to see the experianced fell/mountain runners cover the shall/rocky terrain on the way down was like mountaln goats.

I finished in 2.32.35 in 187th out of 214 finishers as 1st MV/70 picking up a trophy and £10.00 cash prize.

Have a couple of Half Marathons planned over the comming two weeks.

Will be stepping up my weekly mileage now over the next few months to achive a total mileage of 75/80 per week.

Sponsorship money is continuing to come in and I have several pledges made, so on behalf of Chestnut Tree House and myself thank you for your support.
