I did it! See me finishing the Brighton marathon here.

Why am I running the Brighton marathon?

About a year ago, a friend suggested I do Parkrun, a 5km time trial at Hove Park. Saturday mornings have never been the same since. The reason I love it so much is that I am making up for nearly 20 years of lost time. I  had a brain haemorrhage in my mid twenties and that pretty much put a stop to anything sporty for many years afterwards. I was born with a brain AVM; a faulty knot of blood vessels that can burst in later life.

I was treated at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London and the care I received there was fantastic and quite literally life-changing. I have gone on to make a full recovery and as a mark of gratitude, want to help support the National Hospital Development Foundation (NHDF), a worldwide leader in the research and treatment of brain disorders. The current appeal is to raise £2.4 million to create the UK’s first Brain Tumour Unit at The National Hospital.

My aim is to raise £1000 to support some of the projects funded by the  NHDF and I would be immensely grateful for any contributions. No amount is too small - £2 and a friendly comment would make my day!

Thank you for taking the time to read this,

Pete
