We help blind and partially sighted people to break down the barriers of sight loss

Story

Hi There !

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I'm not sure if you know my reasons for running the 2009 Flora London Marathon. Firstly, I see it as a huge personal challenge and have been in training since early summer 2008. I don't just want to get round, I want to run it well and hope to break the 4 hour barrier (that's about 8 min 30 secs per mile) !

I DID IT !

3 Hours 57 Minutes 25 Seconds

I thought someone should benefit from my efforts and am very proud to be running for Team RNIB. But why the RNIB ?

About a year ago my mum was registered blind. She is suffering from Age Related Macular Degeneration, which basically means you lose the central part of your sight leaving you with peripheral vison only. Unfortunately mum has Wet Macular Degeneration which is the type that has no cure, however the RNIB give her support with things like reading aids and audio books. They do great work with blind and partially sighted people and I just wanted to give something back for the help they give mum.

Well, I did it and here are some stats for you :-
  • 16 weeks of training
  • 345 miles run
  • 46 hours of effort
  • 47,237 calories burnt

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNIB gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
