Story
Welcome to my fundraising page, and your opportunity to help this great charity provide invaluable support for those whose lives have been changed forever by this terifying disease....
WELL I AM BACK AND WE MADE IT! Tired, dusty and exhilarated I've completed the challenge to trek to the top of Mount Vesuvius, Mount Stromboli and Mount Etna over a 5 day period and it's been a priviledge to trek with such a diverse and stimulating group of people, all motivated to assist a terrific cause - The Meningitis Trust.
We have achived our mission and WHAT a challenge for a great cause - Vesuvius was the 'easy' one and got us into our stride with a fabulous ascent of this massively destructive volcano. Stomboli was something very different and undertaken in the afternoon heat, arriving at the crater edge as it got dark to see a specatular show of pyrotechnics, followed by a rapid 3,000ft descent in the dark through volcanic ash and a smog of dust. Lastly Etna was a tough challege up to 11,000ft and a swirling cloud of sulphur fumes and cold (hence the cold and smelly comment on my picture!) - the desent was also tough sliding down through 4,500ft of volcanic debris.
The team are still going for the £100,000 target and are over 60% there as we complete the physical side of the challenge. The summit of the fund raising mountain is now in sight but we need more help to stick the MT flag in the top. If you haven't contributed to date or know of someone else who may wish to help, please point them to this web site.
I have fully funded the trip myself so ALL of what you kindly gift will go straight to the Trust to fund the fantastic work it does. So I would be delighted if you would sponsor me now before this site is closed!
My good wishes and thanks,
Peter
