Story

Firstly, please read on.....

For those of you who dont know know me (you're missing out haha), my name is Peter Marsh and I quit my job in England, September of last year to embark on a surfing trip around the world. Now I know what you're thinking..... surfer bum avoiding real life by travelling!  Technically true but there is more (i've scored some great waves too haha).

My first stop was South Africa where I did some volunteer work with Ticket to Ride Responsible Travel Foundation.  The foundation works with the Masiphumelele Township kids near Capetown. How can you not love these kids? They have such an energy and enthusiasm for life, which is pretty amazing given the difficult conditions they're faced with on a daily basis.  And yet not once did I see any of them without a beaming smile ear to ear.... unless they'd just lost at beach football haha.

So with 7 days of training available to me i've decided to run the City to Surf Marathon in Western Australia in support of the Foundation. Some might say thats crazy but hey I like crazy and often in life the most difficult things we're faced with we cant prepare for, they're just thrust upon us.

The Foundation is already carrying out some great projects with the Township:

- Nurturing Kids through Sport and helping to bring the community together

- Regular Surfing Sessions down at Muizenberg beach to expand the horizons of the kids and show them there is life outside of the township

- English Teaching and Private Tutoring as the Masi Township has just one junior school and one high school for its 30,000 inhabitants

- Arts, Crafts and Environmental Projects to promote the importance of recycling and taking care in ones local environment

Your donations will help the Foundation continue with these projects as well as deliver projects in the pipeline (you like the surfing lingo) like building skate ramps and a synthetic pitch for the sporting activities.

And now for the business speak - Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to my charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please, forgo your weekend takeaway, dont bother getting a couple of extra pints in on last orders and take a sandwich to work instead of eating out. Please dig deep and donate now.
