As a national executive council member and Chairman of the South Wales Branch of the Huntingtons Disease Association I have agreed to run the Athens Classic Marathon in November this year to raise funds for the South Wales Branch of the HDA.

Huntingtons Disease is a degenerative disease of the central nervous system and is a hereditary disorder with a 50% chance of it being passed onto the next generation (www.hda.org.uk) it usually develops in adulthood and causes a very wide range of symptoms, the disease affects both men and women.

  I have been associated with the HDA for several years founding the South Wales Branch from which we support families throughout South Wales with various means of support for example welfare grants which are requested through and vetted by our regional care advisor e.g. we have just purchased a set of wheelchair ramps to allow a carer to get her husbands wheelchair into their specially adapted car and many other similar special needs.

I have undertaken 3 previous Marathons in Dublin, London and New York all of which have been completely self funded as is the trip to Athens.

All funds received 100% will be allocated to the HDA for supporting sufferers and their carers in the South Wales Area.
