Story

SPANA supporter, Peter Muffett is once again taking on the burden of SPANA’s ultra-realistic donkey costume!

Peter was the first person ever to don the 17kg costume for a running event when he took part in the BUPA Great North Run in 2008, raising over £1,400 for SPANA. He then took on the ultimate challenge in 2009 by completing the 26.2 mile Flora London Marathon, spending an incredible 7 hours 53 minutes in the costume pounding the streets of London.

For 2010, it’s back to Newcastle for the BUPA Great North Run once again. This time Peter will be loading up the costume even more by carrying the equivalent of a small person on his shoulders. Carrying the heavy costume is a very graphic reminder of the enormous burdens that working animals carry every day of their lives and the long distances they have to carry them.

Please support Peter's challenge and help SPANA to provide a brighter future for working animals worldwide. For more information about SPANA's work, go to www.spana.org.
