Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. 2008 & 2009
I am especially pleased to be running for Climb, as our 3 year old son, Callum died of a metabolic disorder known as Leigh's Disease in October 2002.
Metabolic disorders affect the ability of cells to make energy and cells which don't get enough energy die. Climb support over 700 disorders which affect about 1800 children in the UK. They also fund research, which is very expensive and tends not to be of interest to the Pharmaceuticals, because it doesn't result in medical sales.
Callum had one of the most aggressive forms of metabolic disorders. His rollercoaster journey lasted for three months. It took him from being a seemingly normal little boy, through three bouts of pneumonia and a heart attack, before finally knocking out his ability to breath. Perhaps the most ridiculous scene, was watching him sitting up in Paediatric Intensive Care, at Guys Hospital, watching Bob the Builder while on a ventilator . The attached picture was taken just two weeks before his final battle.
Thanks again for visiting my web page - I hope you are able to help me support this worthy cause !
