Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.  Being "otherwise engaged abroad" this summer I will not be able to help out at Derby Kids' Camp (www.derbykidscamp.co.uk) so instead I thought I would raise some money on its behalf.  My aim is to enact a virtual Great Escape from my current state of "incarceration" in Afghanistan, though unfortunately the absence of my trusty motorbike means that unlike Steve McQueen I am going to have to cycle my way out.

Sadly, I know that I have insufficient time to make it all the way back to UK before the prison authorities sound the alarm in late September 09, however your kind donation will help spur me on, say 1 mile per £1 donated, thus ensuring that I at least make it to a more benign country than my present whereabouts.  If you pop back to this page periodically I will provide updates of where I have got to.  So far (24 Sep 09) I have jumped the prison wall and have made it 2671km along the Helmand River and into Iran, though I'm having to peddle like the clappers as some unfriendly locals are in hot pursuit!
