We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

Petrofac is the platinum sponsor for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk (or Run) to Cure Diabetes Scotland 2010, both to be held at Hazlehead Park, Aberdeen on Sunday 19 September 2010.

We're entering a number of teams to walk the walk (or run the run!) with a view to raising as much money as possible for JDRF.

This is a hugely worthwhile cause and one we are passionate about. Did you know that more than 350,000 people suffer from type 1 diabetes in the UK and that it mainly strikes children? It is a life-long and life-threatening illness that has a huge impact on sufferers and their families. For those diagnosed at age five, by the time they reach the age of 18 they will have injected themselves with insulin approximately 26,000 times - you can begin to see how tough life must be for sufferers. Thankfully, JDRF exists to find a cure for type 1 diabetes and we are determined to do as much as we can to facilitate their search.

The next few months will be a frenzy of fundraising activity from cake sales and car washes to BBQs and Give As You Earn donations, not to mention the walk itself. Thank you so much for visiting our page and making a donation to support JDRF in their search for a cure for type 1 diabetes.

If you'd like to find out more about JDRF and how you can take part in the Walk, Run or fundraising, check out their website at http://www.jdrf.org.uk/walk or view the 2009 video on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3955X-7jexI&feature=player_embedded.
