Story

Are we mad?  OH YES!

This is your opportunity to see two lovely ladies SHAVE THEIR HEADS in order to raise funds for Great Ormond Street
Children’s Hospital.  This is going to involve a cut-throat razor too, not just the clippers!  True 'Egg Head' style!   This is scheduled for 3pm on Friday 3rd July at the Sports & Social Club at Headquarters (upstairs bar).

Small or large donations, they are all gratefully received.   We will, of course, provide photographs as evidence.  Please please please, dig deep!  Its easy to donate online – just follow the instructions.

Many thanks

Phil (Philippa) Stokes & Jenny Grantham

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSHCC) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Update 24/06/09 at 9.30pm:

Wow!  Thank you so much for all your support this far.   It's getting close now, only NINE long and tourturous days to go ...... !  Both Jenny and I are now suffering from sleep deprivation and vivid nightmares - please donate otherwise we might still change our minds !!  ;>)

Update 03/07/09 at 12.40pm:

Jenny and I are now almost past the panic point.  We are both sleep starved and can't eat through nerves!
... only 2½ hours to go !

Update 10/07/09 at 9.45pm:

Jenny and I did not change our minds and on the stroke of 3pm on 3rd July, 2009 we lost our hair !!  We were watched by several friends and colleagues and for their support, a massive thank you.

We were shorn by by Hannah Milsom (of Xquisite Salon in Chelmer Village) and Dee Bewers (an ex-hairdresser from RS Dry Cleaning of Brentwood) and very gently shaved by Mehmet Simsek (of the Chelmsford Barbers) - Thanks again guys/girls !

Did it hurt?  It wasn't comfortable, but no more than we could handle.
Were we scared? Totally TERRIFIED!  Infact, I did say goodbye to my breakfast very shortly beforehand!
Would we do it again? Yes, in a heartbeat.  It's a tiny sacrifice to make for all the good that Great Ormond Street do and continue to do.

So - thank you once again for your financial support. Jenny and I have been totally blown away by all the nice messages and pledges.  We will continue to collect for a week or so - but  please feel free to add more - It would be great to get our £2k target !!!

We are going to Great Ormond Street Hospital on Monday (13th July) to hand over the monies raised.  Photo to follow, I promise xxx
