Story
Thank you for visiting Philip's fundraising page.
On the 7th December 2005, our son Philip suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while asleep in his bedroom. Unknown to us, Philip had a condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). Due to the expert care and attention that Philip recieved from the Paramedics, Doctors and Nurses in the ITU at Queen Mary Hospital in Sidcup, we as a family were able to spend a week with Philip to tell him how much we loved him and to say our goodbyes.
On the 13th December 2005, Philip sadly died. We will never get over the loss of our son, brother and uncle. We would like to think however, that some good might come of this tragedy, and therefore would ask those who visit Philip's page to donate to CRY, so that another family needn't suffer the loss of a much loved child.
Before this tragic event, Philip had been a fit and healthy young man who enjoyed doing most things that teenagers do, listening to music, playing football, playing on the playstation, going out with friends and playing with his nephew Thomas.
Philip had just started college and had his whole life ahead of him. Hopefully this page will go some way in raising awareness of Sudden Death Syndrome in the Uk.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate money: Cardiac Risk in the Young will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you for your donation.
Phil, Marie, Stacey, Stephanie and nephew Thomas Meaney.
