Story

Thank you to everyone who has supported this wonderful charity.  I have genuinely been overwhelmed with your generosity and encouragement.

I DID IT!!  3 marathons in 3 consecutive weekends!

Prague complete in a steady 4hrs 25mins, Wurzburg was tough but I did it in 4hrs 24mins.  Edinburgh was tougher again. In 28 degree heat my left knee went 'ping' after 14 miles, I had to hobble, hop and drag my body the remaining 12 miles to finish in 4hrs 55 mins.  Mission complete.  Thank you for your support.

Hi there lads 'n' lasses.  Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

During May 2010 I will be donning my running shoes to run 3 marathons in 3 weeks in 3 countries. Starting on 9 May in Prague, then onto Wurzburg on 16 May before finishing in Edinburgh on 23 May.

I started training in October last year, dragging myself away from sky sports, sausage rolls and alcohol, to run on the dark, cold, wet, and unforgiving streets of Reading, Newcastle and Durham.  Before I start the first marathon my training will see me;  Run 1,020 miles, do 30,000 sit ups, attend 20 Spinning and 30 Boxercise classes, not to mention the 30 lycra clad Pilates classes; and then there are Yoga groups, body conditioning circuit sessions, and so on....

I am raising money and awareness for Everyman charity which is incredibly personal to me.

* Everyman is a charity dedicated to male cancersTheir mission is to stamp out testicular and prostate cancer by increasing awareness and raising money to fund life saving research. www.everyman-campaign.org

* Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, more than one man dies from prostate cancer every hour.

* Testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in men aged between 15 and 44.

* The Everyman Centre is Europe’s first and only dedicated male cancer research centre.

I am asking you to please sponsor me, whatever you donate will be very much appreciated. There is an added incentive if you need one, the Government have agreed to give £1 for every £3 donated to Everyman.

I'll sign off with one further request....

Lads: In the words of Alan Partridge "Always got to check for extra lumps.  Yeah some guys feel a little uncomfortable about it, but I always say, why not combine it with a scratch?"

Lasses: You've an important role to play too.  Click here to see 'What women can do to help'.

The trips (travel, accommodation, race entries etc..) are funded 100% personally by myself.   All donations will be going to Everyman.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. Everyman is an appeal run by The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). Every year some 10,000 men lose their lives to prostate cancer and over 2,000 others have their world turned upside down by a diagnosis of testicular cancer. These men are the reason we are fundraising for male specific cancers.
