Story

Thanks for visiting the Pooh Bear fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

We have several fund raising ideas for 2010 and all of the Pooh Bear ladies, along with some of the past Pooh Bear children will be entering the Adidas Women's Challenge in Hyde Park on Sunday 5th September. Please support our efforts by donating online through this page....please!! The team confirmed so far: Gillian, Cauvery, Sarah, Sara, Jo, Kelly, Kim, Cindy, Mia, Tasha, Caroline and Laura. Mimi is flying in from Japan to join the challenge once again and we will also be joined by our Pooh Bear Mum's, Sian and Lucy with their babies, Coco and Conor on their second challenge for Dreamflight and the Pooh Bears!! Simon, Darren & Dave PB will be there to support the ladies.

Every year Dreamflight sends a British Airways 747 with 192 seriously ill and needy children along with their adult escorts to Florida, to make new friends, share experiences and of course to enjoy the sunshine and theme parks of Orlando.

The children are divided into 12 regional groups and we are the Pooh Bears from Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Middlesex and London. On Saturday 17th October, 16 very excited young Pooh Bears will be arriving at a Heathrow hotel for a party and overnight stay, before jetting off to Orlando, waved off by celebrities, including our fabulous patron, Sir Cliff Richard.

While other charities may focus on funding research, we believe that it is just as important to bring some fun and joy into the lives of children who perhaps can't wait long enough for that breakthrough. We aim to make this truly special for all of the children on Dreamflight and the Pooh Bears in particular!

The costs are enormous - in excess of £700,000 per year, equating to over £3,000 per child. Hence our target is the amount required to pay for two little Pooh Bear's 'holiday of a lifetime'. Many of you supported us over the last 2 years raising almost £6,000 through our previous just giving page, mummypoohbear, and I hope that you will continue!!

So where does the money go? £2.50 pays for a group baseball cap for each child, £15 provides lunch and refreshments each day for a child and £20 buys each child in our group a cuddly Pooh Bear! £250 allows a child to swim with the dolphins at Discovery Cove, a truly magical experience and £280 sponsors a aset of T shirts for all of the members of the group for a day. On a larger scale - £1,200 provides each child with a DVD of the holiday, personalised to each group, £13,000 sponsors a day's entry to the Magic Kingdom or Universal Studios, with $40,000 the cost of the Dreamflight dolphin encounter at Discovery Cove. A final mention to the £420,000 cost of chartering the British Airways 747!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Dreamflight gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation, just remember to tick the Gift Aid box. All of the money goes directly to the children, who really do deserve this special, life changing break.

So please sponsor us now and help to make this dream a reality for these wonderful, brave and deserving children!

Many thanks for your support.
