Story
On the 8th November 2007 I took part in a 12 day trek in the Rift Valley in Kenya. 4 days of this involved carrying out essential refurbishment and maintenance work on facilities in a local school with the Maasai people. By taking part in this overseas fundraising project, my time and practical contribution made a real difference to a local community abroad and at home my fundraising will help Marie Curie Cancer Care deliver more choice and care to terminally ill cancer patients in your community and the 10 Marie Curie hospices.
My target was to raise £3,250 with a minimum of £1,800 of fundraising money going directly to Marie Curie along with any money raised over and above the minimum target. However, thanks to the phenomenal support shown so far, I have re-set myself a target of raising more than double the initial target to £7,000...
I trekked with 19 other Hays employees, by Hays facilitating this trip and with all trekkers raising the minimum amount, Marie Curie have received at least £80,000 as a result of this challenge.
As charities coordinator at Hays and one of the successful applicants, I am passionate and committed about taking part in this challenge and want to make a difference at home and abroad. I am a strong supporter of the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity and the free nursing they provide in the UK. I am also very excited about this unique opportunity to help the lives and schooling of those in the local Maasai community, in particular, the Maasai children.
For all of this I greatly need your help and support, but more importantly your sponsorship money. I would be sincerely grateful for any contribution you can make. Its not too late to sponsor even after the event!!
Thank you so, so much
