Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. Just that you are here means so much to us, you will of course know one of us, or maybe even all of us? We are the PPF team taking on the 24 hour Three Peaks Challenge. Our team is Alan Goodman, Audie Waterman, Charles Ryder, Hannah Boardman, Martin Baker, Phillip Beecroft and Shelly Kang, Becca Waters

The event in brief is The Three Peaks Challenge, as well as conquering the highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland, participants are required to negotiate the sometimes equally treacherous motorway and road network that connects them – all within a 24-hour period.

The grueling itinerary for the team is:

Saturday
06:30 Breakfast
08:00 Start to climb Ben Nevis
           1,344m / 10.2 miles
13:30 Depart Fort William
18:30 Arrive at Seathwiate, climb Scarfell
            977m / 8.8 miles in the dark
23:30 Depart Lake District

Sunday
04:00 Arrive Llanberis, climb Snowdon
           1,085m / 6.6 miles
08:00 Complete challenge and home for bath and    bed!

The Team chose to tackle this arduous challenge to raise money for the Meningitis Trust. Meningitis is life-threatening and affects the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Meningitis and associated septicaemia (blood poisoning) can kill within hours and can affect the young and old.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Meningitis Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

For more detailed information on the wonderful work that the Meningitis Trust do to help individuals and families that are affected by Meningitis every year please visit their main page here: http://www.meningitis-trust.org/how-we-help/

Finally... if you are nearby Nutley in East Sussex on the 27th June 2009 please pop by the village day and see us on our stall, and one very silly member dressed up as Monty the Duck!!

There will be balloons, face painting, guess the number of sweets in the jar, Go-go’s for sale and even a cake bake and any other idea we can put together to have fun and make people laugh and raise peoples awareness of Meningitis and to of course raise as much money as is possible, Lets hope it isn’t too hot!

NEWS UPDATE 09/06/2009

Phil and Audie completed the first training walk on Saturday in the South Downs. The weather was kind to us as we started in fairly cold conditions but finished under sunny skies. We cover 15.3 miles in five hours, starting from the Jack and Jill windmills on the outskirts of Hassocks and looped round overt the Ditchling Beacon and down through Plumpton and Ditchling and back up onto the Downs; climbing a mere 600 meters (2/3 of Scarfell) which was hard enough!

The highlight of the walk was coming across a wondering minstrel playing his accordion! Not something you see every day.
