I am running the Flora London Marathon 2009 on 26th April for Childline on behalf of BT.

Completing this enormous challenge is a personal goal of mine and though I only have 12 short weeks in which to train and prepare for this race, it is but a small challenge compared to the problems many children face in their daily lives.

What do children call about?

Children call ChildLine about a wide range of problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends' welfare and teenage pregnancy.

Why Childline?

ChildLine is the UK's free 24-hour helpline for children and young people. Around 4,500 children call ChildLine every day, but the charity only has the resources to answer 2,500.  This means that around 2,000 children go unanswered each day.

"Last year, 500,000 children called ChildLine, but many were not able to get the counselling they needed. This is why we are expanding the service to make sure the right help is available to all the children who call."
