Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Iona School has been so good for my son Teddy. He started there last September, after attending a different Montessori school every year for the previous three. After one year at Iona, he is a happier, more confident, more at-peace child. I want to do everything I can to support the school so that it can provide its unique education to as many children as possible.
There are no such things as "charter schools" in the UK -- all schools that receive state funding must comply with strict regulations. As a result alternative schools such as Iona are forced to charge fees. Iona keeps their fees as low as (arguably lower than) possible in order to make their education available to more children. The families of most of the children Teddy goes to school with are not well-off financially.
I talk with many parents who would like to send their children to Iona, but simply can't afford the fees. One mum's story is particularly poignant – she was looking for another place because her five-year-old son was several times a week coming home from his state school and just curling himself into a ball. His mum couldn't afford Iona's fees, even the lowest assessed ones that the school can afford to offer.
If you would like to make a monthly contribution (which can't be done on this page), please follow this link to Iona's main donation page: http://www.justgiving.com/ionaschool . And if you are so kind as to make a monthly donation, could you please let me know? I'd like to thank you, and the main page won't tell me.
Thanks so much for your help!
Rachel
