Asics British 10K London Run · 6 July 2008 ·

At times of overseas emergency, the DEC brings together a unique alliance of the UK's aid, corporate, public and broadcasting sectors to rally the nation's compassion, and ensure that funds raised go to DEC agencies best placed to deliver effective and timely relief to people most in need.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Some weeks ago I agreed to participate in the London 10k run on 6th July, for charity.  Those of you who know me well will know that I barely run for the bus - so this is a big deal and I'm determined to finish the race in record time.

Given the recent events in Burma I have decided to raise money for the Myanmar (Burma) Cyclone Appeal, set up by the Disasters Emergency Committee (dec.org.uk).  The DEC is an umbrella organisation comprising many charities, which mounts a humanitarian response to major overseas disasters.  I have done lots of research online and DEC funds are getting through to Burma.   They already have 5 member organisations working on the ground.

I was going to donate to them anyway, so I have set the ball rolling with a donation just now.

Please do sponsor me if you can.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Disasters Emergency Committee will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
