We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Hi guys,

After a rush of blood to the head, I thought it would be a "good idea" to take a flight to Tanzania and climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's highest freestanding mountain! Consequently, I managed to get Jon, Robin and Vishal involved and now the 4 of us are getting ready to embark upon one of life's great experiences (so I've been told)...

We will be climbing the mountain via the Machame Route (aka. "whiskey" route) and plan to reach the summit in 6 days, reaching an altitude of 5,890m or 19,340ft at Uhuru Peak on 9th October 2009...

Having had a number of people close to me suffer and die from cancer, I've decided to raise some funds for Cancer Research UK (http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/aboutus/whatwedo/) as an added impetus to reach the summit. Cancer Research UK, the largest charity of its kind across the world, has made a valiant effort over the last 30 years to ensure fewer people have their lives terminated by this cruel disease, and only with donations from the public (i,e, YOU!) can it continue to make progress in finding a cure.

Given that we are all personally financing the climb, anything you donate will go directly to Cancer Research UK, so please dig deep into your pockets and give whatever you can...

Ravi

P.S. Don't forget about the Gift Aid scheme which allows the charity to reclaim 25% in tax on every donation (http://www.justgiving.com/info/gift-aid/).
