Story
This summer 28 students from the MSc Real Estate programme at the School of Real Estate and Planning at the University of Reading, will take part in the Rob Roy Challenge in order to raise funds for several worthwhile charities including ‘Sponsor an Orphan’ (www.kisiiziorphans.org.uk).
The Rob Roy Challenge is a 55 mile race divided up into a 16 mile run followed by a 39 mile bike ride across the Highlands of Scotland.
24.5 million people have AIDS in sub-Saharan . ‘Sponsor an Orphan’ looks after those who have been left behind.
The charity operates in the village of Kisiizi in the south west of Uganda, with the principal goal to provide an education for the children in that area.
‘Sponsor an Orphan’ is currently supporting 270 orphaned children who have lost their parents by providing them with primary and secondary education along with food, clothing and shelter. Our goal is to help raise £20,000 in order that the charity can continue to expand the programme to help orphaned children, who have received the benefit of a basic level of education and proved themselves able, continue onto a higher education programme.
‘This is a fantastic charity helping to provide the basic necessities for children who need our help. If we can help these children into higher education they can really have a chance of lifting themselves and their remaining families out of the poverty trap. With a quarter of our course signed up to take part, I believe it will be a great success and we can make a real difference.’ Colin Campbell, Coordinator of the University of Reading team.
Hopefully you will consider supporting us in our quest to raise funds for this most worthwhile challenge?
