Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Hannah was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome in 2010 she was less than 3 years old. The news was devastating for her family, especially Vincent and Beth, her parents, our good friends. There was no cure, no treatment, no hope. They looked ahead to a future where their little girl would lose every aspect of independent living, where every basic function would be a struggle, where her life would be, at best, limited and at worst, brief.
But times change and science progresses. Eight years later, treatments are in motion, a gene therapy clinical trial is on the horizon and hope is real. In February, 8 years after diagnosis, Hannah herself embarked on a clinical trial in London which targets her breathing difficulties, hopefully helping her to finally breathe normally and thereby vastly improve her quality of life.
This kind of progress, and the continuing journey towards the ultimate goal of a cure, is only made possible through grass roots fundraising. Every event, every challenge, every donation, plays its part in the bigger picture.
We are doing this run (walk!) to help Hannah and girls like her. Hannah herself has a broken leg at the moment, her bone density is poor because she can no long weight bear for any lengh of time. We are walking because Hannah can't and we want to help. Help us help Hannah and donate a small amount if you can, Thanks!
