Story

On the 5th November – while most in Blighty are checking under their bonfires for hedgehogs , Gale (my wife) and I are embarking on a 26.2 mile journey around the streets of New York City .  I wouldn’t say this was the most sensible idea I have ever had , actually come to think of it wasn’t my idea at all , but with Gale a seasoned NYC marathoner I hope to stumble around in less that 12 hours – I think however my target has been set at sub 4.10!!

In the meantime there is a much bigger cause than my public humiliation and that is the British Red Cross.

The British Red Cross is part of the International Red Cross, the largest humanitarian network in the world.  Wherever there is disaster or conflict, you’re more than likely to find Red Cross Volunteers right at the heart of things, helping people just like you and me when we need it most.  Below you will find some examples of how donated funds are used by the British Red Cross.

If you would be kind enough to support me and the British Red Cross, here are two ways you can help:

  • Donating through this site is simple, fast and secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me:  the British Red Cross will receive your money quickly and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
  • Logging onto www.ingnycmarathon.org is the easiest way to cheer me on from the or even further abroad.  Here you will find complete information about the race and extensive coverage on race day; even a race day tracker will allow anyone with an Internet connection to check on my latest splits.  Every bit of cheering helps , especially during those last miles , whether live or virtual.

Thanks again for your support!  I look forward to sharing photos with you.

Richard
