Finally after 7 years of trying I got a ballot place in the London Marathon.  Now I don't have to do any fundraising with this place but I have chosen to do it for a charity close to my heart.  Nowzad dogs, I served in Afghanistan and witnessed first hand the amount of stray dogs in the country.  I also witnessed the torture they go through due to the locals seeing them as a dirty animal.  They also use dogs for dog fighting where they dock their tails and cut of their ears without any use of painkiller.  I myself befriended a stray dog whilst on my tour but unfortunately he was shot and killed.  What Nowzad dogs do is help get soldiers like myself who have befriended an animal to get their dog/cat vaccinated and looked after in their shelter with the view to get them back to the soldiers country.  This isn't a cheap process and which is why they rely on donations.

They also help out with vaccinating dogs in Afghanistan to try and reduce the risk of rabies spreading.  For more info on the charity visit: http://www.nowzad.com
