Yes, it's true, on 14 September, I'm embarking on a bike ride to Paris. I'm still not entirely sure how a quick conversation about a bit of cycling has turned into reality, but there you go.

We are setting off from London and heading for Newhaven and then from Dieppe (we are cheating slightly by taking the ferry to France) through northern France. I have been promised that I will be very sore at the end of it, however good my saddle is.

I am raising money for a new children's hopsital at Shaare Zedek, the most central acute-care hospital in Jerusalem.  The children's unit looks after over 50,000 children each year and treats all patients regardless of their race or religion.
