3 girls, 2,000 miles, 1 auto-rickshaw…

This Boxing Day 2010, Kate, Gemma and Mim are off to India to risk life and limb to raise as much money as possible for Frank, an India based water charity that provides clean drinking water for communities with poor sanitation.

Currently over 780,000 deaths a year in India are directly linked to poor quality water and sanitation. Sadly, 75% of these deaths occur in children under five.

Frank work with local Indian communities to build and support clean water projects using the latest filtering technology to remove bacteria and viruses. Once a project is set up, it is owned, run and maintained by the local community, with support workers on hand to provide advice when needed.

So what are we doing?

In order to justify the amazing donation you’re making, we are risking life and limb to race 2,000 miles down the length of India, in a 150cc (only 7hp) auto-Rickshaw.

For two weeks, this motorised lawnmower will see us all the way from Jaisalamer in the North down to Cochin, near Kerala in the far South. With no mechanical expertise or basic map-reading skills and only each other to depend on, it's going to be tough and potentially fatal. This is an incredibly worthy cause and one that even the smallest donation can impact positively upon. We have set ourselves the target of raising £1,000 minimum but hope to beat this with your help.
