Story

Ripley the dachshund was adopted from RSPCA Chesterfield in January this year. She is 1 year old at the end of November.

I am rowing my first ever marathon on Dec 4th.
I would love to raise £262, £10 for each of the 26.2 miles being rowed.

Ripley is not rowing as she is a small dog.

Donations

  • If you can donate 1 mile (£10) that would be awesome!
  • If you can donate half a mile (£5) that would be awesome!
  • If you can donate £1 that would be awesome!

If you cannot afford to donate that's ok, I understand - I'd love it if you left some words of encouragement here instead.

The marathon row is something I've never done before.
Last year I completed almost 20 miles, but this time I'm going for the full 26.2, and this time I am rowing without anyone else rowing beside me.

I expect it to take almost 6hrs as I am not a fast rower.
The aim is for a steady 5 miles per hour, burning around 400 calories per hour.

Thank you for your support, and your donation.

Ripley's Story
Ripley's mum was rescued along with hundreds of other dogs from a puppy mill.
She was pregnant at the time, and gave birth at the shelter. No one knew who dad was.
She gave birth to a litter of 11 which is much larger than normal.
Only 4 of the puppies survived, and the birth was too much for mum who passed away.

Ripley and her siblings were hand reared by a veterinary nurse and I took her home from the shelter at 10 weeks old never having met her parents, but knowing she needed a forever home.

Lockdown life has been hard for everyone, and as a growing puppy unable to go to training classes, or meet up with other dogs the summer was difficult.

Her company has been a gift and we have looked after each other and will continue to do so.

RSPCA Chesterfield has been raising funds to complete the new buildings for the animals and team for a number of years now and still have over £250,000 to raise.

Lockdown has meant the closure of their shop in town, and onsite pet shop which has had an impact on their income.
